Colby Dunkin
Founder & NeuroMap™ Coach
“You are more than the patterns you learned along the way. There can be a path forward.”
I came into foster care as an infant and was adopted at four months old. I grew up in a stable, loving home and had a great childhood. But one of the things I’ve learned is that a good life later doesn’t necessarily erase what the nervous system experienced early.
As I got older, I struggled at times with managing big emotions. During adolescence, I chose therapy and learned DBT skills that gave me practical ways to understand and manage what I was feeling. I loved DBT—and I still do. Those skills made a real difference in my life.
But eventually I became interested in another question: What if we could work with what’s happening underneath the need for the skills, too?
That question is a big part of what drew me to Dunkin NeuroMap™. I wanted to understand how early development shapes the nervous system, why some patterns seem to stick even when life is going well, and what it looks like to work with those patterns from the bottom up.
That curiosity also led me to pursue additional training and certifications in ADHD and neurodivergence coaching. As someone who understands neurodivergence personally, I care about helping people understand how their brains and nervous systems work rather than simply focusing on what they struggle with.
I’m also a senior at Berklee College of Music. Music has been a huge part of my life and has shaped the way I think about creativity, emotion, connection, and being human.
Today, I’m a husband and dad with a young family of my own. Becoming a father has made this work even more meaningful to me. I want people to have practical tools for today while also having the opportunity to understand the deeper patterns their nervous system learned along the way.
Outside of NeuroMap™, I’m a musician, an animal lover, and someone who cares deeply about my family. My own experiences are a big part of why I want Dunkin NeuroMap™ to feel understandable, practical, and genuinely supportive for the people who come through it.
